Ruakuri cave
Year 1 students and above
Time: 1.5 hour
Get up close and personal with the Glowworms. You will be mesmerised by the Glowworms as they light up above you in this cave.
You will enter this magical destination through a spiral entrance as you admire all the fascinating limestone formations and crystal tapestries in this special experience. Did you know this cave is also solar-powered!
Aranui cave
Year 1 Students and above
Time: 1 hour
Just a short 5-minute walk will lead you into all the beauty that the Aranui Cave has to offer. During this walk you will walk through the enchanted Tawa forest before entering the cave. Try to spot native New Zealand cave weta, amazing speleothems, delicate straws, and a wide variety of cave formations on this tour that make this cave spectacular.
Waitomo Glowworm Cave:
Year 1 students and above
Time: 45 minutes
Float through and immerse yourself in the wonders of this cave that comes with over 130 years of culture and history. Let the magic happen and let nature do its thing as it lights up around you.
When you tour the Waitomo Glowworm Caves tours you will find that it is made up of two levels. In the dry upper area, you will take the time to be in awe of the stunning, and delicate cave formations. On the other hand, down below on the lower level, it consists of stream passages, the Cathedral which is the tallest chamber in the cave, and glowworms of course!
Black Water Rafting – Black Labyrinth
Primary school and above – be at least 12 years old
Time: 3 hours
This jam-packed adventure includes floating down an underground river, slipping into fast waters, jumping off waterfalls, and taking in the magic of the glow worm studded Ruakuri Cave. We will have our experts who will guide you through this experience.
Get your tube ready and you will be able to head right inside the Cave. You will do this all in the dark including climbing over rocks, floating under a sky full of glow worms, and jumping off (not too high) waterfalls.
Black Water Rafting – Black Abyss
Year 9 and above (secondary school) – be at least 16 years old.
Time: 5 hours
This Black Water Rafting experience is filled with even more action!. Get your adrenaline pumping and take on this 5-hour adventure. From abseiling, climbing underground waterfalls, tubing in flowing waters, to zip-lining through a glow worm cave.
Our expert guides will help you every step of the way and teach you the skills you need in the cave. This is an unforgettable experience that you don’t want to miss.
